2025 -A Wonderful Year of Wildlife Talks: Looking Back with Gratitude

This year has been an exceptional one for our Wildlife Society, filled with inspiring speakers, fascinating stories, and unforgettable insights into the natural world. Each month brought something new, and our members enjoyed a rich and varied programme of talks that deepened our appreciation of the wildlife around us—both near and far.

We most recently welcomed Tricia Moxey, who treated us to a delightful and informative presentation on the History of Beekeeping. Earlier in the year, we were transported to the tropics through the exceptional wildlife photography of William Knuckey, who shared captivating images from his time in Costa Rica. His stunning photographs and stories from the rainforest were a highlight.

We also enjoyed meeting Isabel from Lough Rynn Alpacas, who introduced us to the charming world of alpacas—their care, their characters, and their surprising quirks.

Liz Huxley captivated us with extraordinary stories from the riverbank, offering a glimpse into the hidden dramas and quiet magic of our waterways. Ian Metson helped us appreciate the vital role of hedgerows with his talk on Hedgelife, while Mary Venables inspired us with practical and thoughtful ways to create gardens that support and celebrate wildlife.

We began the year on a high note with Stephanie Callister-Jarrold, who gave a compelling talk on owl and bird of prey rescue work across Suffolk and Essex—an inspiring reminder of the dedication required to protect these magnificent creatures.

As we close the year, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all our speakers, whose passion made every talk a joy.

We continue to encourage new members through local and social media, and we warmly welcome anyone who would like to join us.

We look forward to another year of learning, inspiration, and shared enthusiasm for the natural world. Here’s to an exciting programme in the year ahead!
